In order to turn on and utilize your webcam and microphone inside of CMMC Space, you have to explicitly give permission to the environment for both. We cannot turn them on and off for you. This is both a requirement for CMMC compliance, as well as a technical limitation of the system. In order to turn on both your webcam and microphone, open the control panel and select either the Webcam or Microphone icons and follow the instructions below.
These must be turned on before joining any calls, as doing so during or after joining a call will result in Kasm not recognizing a user's webcam or microphone.
When you select either the Webcam or Microphone icons, you will be prompted to allow CMMC Space to use your system camera and microphone. Be sure to verify that the camera and microphone that you want to use are selected in the dropdown menu. It may try to default to your integrated webcam or microphone, so be sure to check.
Below, you'll see what the system warning looks like for a Chrome window that has access to your webcam and microphone. This is the same notification that will appear inside of the environment whenever you're using the webcam and microphone in a Google Meet or a Teams Meeting. Additionally, be sure to check the website settings if you ever want to be sure that you've given CMMC Space permission.
You can also revoke permissions here, too, if you want.
Once you're ready to actually join a meeting, navigate to Google Meet. You'll have to turn your camera on here, too, if you've never provided access before. Click the red camera icon at the bottom of the Meet window.
Google will ask you if you're sure one final time and then the managed browser you are using will prompt you to provide Google Meet with permissions, so be sure you're ready to be on camera.
You should now see yourself! Be sure to provide whatever collaboration application you're using with permissions before attempting to join. If you don't, you may have to refresh the window inside of the environment in order for the permissions to register.
