ATX Defense recommends using an authentication application such as Google Authenticator, or a Chrome extension such as Authenticator. However, users may elect to use any authentication application they wish to use.
Google Play Store: Google Authenticator
Apple App Store: Google Authenticator
Chrome Web Store: Authenticator Chrome Extension
The following steps will be exclusively for the Authenticator Chrome Extension.
Once your organization has provided a list of authorized users, a secure account will be created. Your organization should have also provided a one time password (OTP) for this account. Contact your organization point of contact for this password if it was not provided to you. A password reset can be provided upon request (please submit a help ticket if you require a password reset).
After your password is reset:
- Ensure that you are logged into your Chrome Browser in a normal Google Account (i.e., not your CMMC Space account).
- Visit the Authenticator page, and select Add to Chrome, then select Add extension on the pop-up.
- Open your Extensions and press the pushpin icon for easy access.
- Navigate to your Google account and follow the steps below.
Once your My Account page has successfully loaded, select your Google Account icon in the upper right corner of the window (note: ensure you are selecting the account icon in the window and not the account icon associated with the browser window).
If you do not see your new secure account (i.e, your new CMMC Space account), select Add another account and log into your new secure account.
Once you have logged in, select Security on the left hand side of the screen, then select 2-Step Verification in the How you sign into Google section. It should appear near the middle of your screen.
Now, select Add authenticator app. On the next screen, select + Set up authenticator.
A QR Code will appear in the middle of your screen. Select the Authenticator icon that appeared in step three above, and select the Scan icon (top right corner of the extension) that appears in the Authenticator window.
Now click and drag around the QR code that appeared to configure MFA. Click Next and then enter the code that appears in the Authenticator app.
Once you’ve successfully configured the Authenticator extension in your account, return to the 2-Step Verification page. Here, select Turn on 2-Step Verification to protect your account and ensure you do not lose access to your information.
Your MFA set up is now complete. Now anytime you are prompted to provide an authentication code, you can copy and paste the numbers directly from the Authenticator Chrome Extension.
